Numerical simulation on gas–liquid separation characteristics in a GLCC?horizontal combined separator

Currently, computational fluid dynamics has become the primary method for analyzing flow state inside machine. Herein, Ansys Fluent software is used to design a more effective oil-field device, namely, gas–liquid cylindrical cyclone (GLCC)-horizontal combined separator. The characteristics of mixed flow, turbulence intensity, and phase volume fraction distribution are analyzed, factors affecting separation efficiency evaluated under various working conditions. results show that low efficiencies obtained at inlet liquid ratios (liquid proportion in fluid) both 30% 70% GLCC. After enters separator, maximum level collision area increases from 2.458 3.033 m2/s2 as ratio increased 70%, with generation oil–water stratification back. Furthermore, gas holdup outlet 7% 12% 25% 50% 70%. With throttling again close 14%.
